Ventile – The Legacy of Adventurers

Conquering Mount Everest and traversing the Arctic – Ventile™ was first.

Long before the onset of plastic membrane textiles there was Ventile. This is the fabric that Always delivers more performance than it promises.
Ventile is a high-performance fabric that has a rich legacy rooted in the adventures of explorers. Developed during World War II, Ventile was originally used in military applications due to its exceptional properties. Today, it is widely recognized as a durable and weather-resistant fabric that is highly sought after by outdoor enthusiasts.

What sets Ventile apart is its ability to provide excellent protection against the elements while maintaining breathability and comfort. It is densely woven from long-staple cotton fibers, which swell and interlock when exposed to water, creating a natural barrier against rain and wind. This unique characteristic makes Ventile garments highly water-repellent without the need for additional coatings or membranes.

Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay famously wore Ventile™ during their historic ascent of Mount Everest in 1953.

Adventurers and explorers have relied on Ventile for their expeditions to some of the most challenging environments on Earth. Whether scaling towering peaks, traversing icy terrains, or battling harsh weather conditions, Ventile has proven its worth time and time again. Its durability and reliability have made it a trusted companion for those who seek adventure.

Loosely spun, long-fiber cotton tightly woven that swells when wet – and thus becomes waterproof!

We doubled it. Not one, but two layers of Ventile where it is needed the most.

The Ravnø Sabotør™, Arv™ and Tjorro™ collections are exclusively made from Ventile™ fabric. This textile possesses exceptional properties, being water-repellent when it rains, breathable like cotton, quick-drying, durable, and silent. It is made from loosely spun, long-staple cotton that is tightly woven. When exposed to moisture, the fabric swells, making it virtually waterproof. Additionally, our garments feature a two-layer system that provides double protection against the elements.

The versatility of Ventile extends beyond extreme expeditions. Its natural breathability and moisture management properties make it suitable for everyday wear, providing comfort and protection in various climates and activities. From outdoor enthusiasts to urban dwellers, Ventile has earned a reputation for its performance and durability.

As the legacy of adventurers lives on, Ventile continues to be at the forefront of technical fabrics, embodying the spirit of exploration and resilience. It stands as a testament to the ingenuity and craftsmanship that have shaped the outdoor industry, offering a blend of heritage and innovation that appeals to modern adventurers seeking quality and performance in their gear.
